Please join us for an informal gathering of maker educators on Thursday at 4PM.
The goal of this meeting is to get to know each other, and learn more about what you are doing and what challenges you face as a maker educator. We’d love to hear from you. Feel free to make your favorite beverage.

Last Friday and Saturday, Godwyn Morris and I hosted the Make: Education Forum for its third year. For the last session on Friday, I spoke with Kylie Peppler of UC Irvine on Next-Gen Maker Education. As Kylie said, it’s a good time to be thinking about what the next level of maker education looks like. I will publish our conversation in a future newsletter.
On Saturday, we had a wonderful series of hands-on workshops. I’m impressed at how good many people are at presenting with two cameras — one on them and one on a desktop that shows their hands working on an activity. I enjoyed seeing their creative work but they also explained how to do the activity or project with kids.
It is amazing how many different materials are used in making, from paper and cardboard to Micro:bit and motors. The last session was on AI. Jaymes Dec allowed people to create their own AI application using ChatGPT’s API. True, the applications were kind of silly such as an AI joke generator, but it was great to get hands on and explore AI.
