Just a reminder that the Make: Education Forum begins online next Friday, September 22. We will have a series of talks on Friday.
The founder and director a makerspace at an all-girls school in NYC, Lauren Mitchell will be talking about “Inspiring Girls to be Makers Through Makerspace Apprenticeship."
On Saturday, we’ll have workshops. We will also hold an unconference where maker educators can meet each other and decide what they’d like to talk about. One important piece of feedback from last year was that participants wanted more unstructured time to meet each other.
See the full two-day schedule here. You can also register on that page.
MakerEd Happy Hour #1
MakerEd will host an virtual happy hour for educators via Zoom on Thursday, September 28th at 4pm PT. This is an informal gathering with no particular agenda other than connecting maker educators and talking about the start of the new school year. If there’s interest, I’ll give a preview of Maker Faire Bay Area and talk about a possible teacher meetup at the event.
If you’re interested, please register in advance using the link below. Please help by spreading the word.
Where do you keep your power tools?
Michael Kim teaches Creative Technology at the Alameda Community Learning Center. For his classroom makerspace, he built a series of cabinets for tool storage that open and close on command.
I love seeing different organizational systems and I’ve already watched this short video too many times.
